Health
and Safety Professionals The
Workplace Health Partnership brings together some of the key
players involved in workplace health. Our key objective is
to enhance the health and well being of workers in the Western
and North Western areas of Ireland.
Improving workplace health contributes to:
(i)
improving the health of the Irish adult population.
(ii) improving economic performance of west and north
west of Ireland
(iii) reducing the number of accidents at work.
The
key players involved include:
- The
Occupational Health Nurses Association of Ireland.
- The
Health & Safety Authority.
- The
Health Promotion Services of the Western and North Western
Health Boards.
An
important role of Partnership is to work with other agencies
such as intermediary organisations, voluntary and statutory
bodies to demonstrate to employers how they can make a difference
to the health of their employees.
The
Partnership’s aims and objectives reflects the targets set
out in various strategy documents. Many national policy documents
have prioritised employee health, for example:
Healthy
Bodies – Healthy Work 1998.
Building Healthier Hearts – Cardiovascular Healthy Strategy,
1999
National Health Promotion Strategy, 2002-2005
Health
& Safety Programme of Work-2003
